Sunday, June 28: Know Your Rights Workshop
Please join the board and fellow NYCPCA members for a training session focused on understanding your rights when stopped by the police.
This knowledge would enable you to serve as a resource for your community members, friends, loved ones, colleagues, and anyone you may pass by on the street who may need help. For those of us who are protesting and for those of us who are choosing to support the movement in other ways, this will enable and empower you to be an active ally. We hope you will join us.
Monday, June 15 [Affiliate event, hosted by NPCA]:
Please join us for a virtual Town Hall Meeting on Climate Change on Monday, June 15 at 7 PM EDT.
We want to hear your thoughts on how Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) can work more effectively together to address climate change in their communities as well as nationwide and around the world.
We will hear from RPCV experts on how climate change impacts a range of issues including inequality, social justice and pandemics like Covid-19 and we will share our latest research on RPCV attitudes and goals in tackling this critical issue. To register on the NPCA website, click this link.
Saturday, June 6: Virtual Cocktail Hour [CANCELLED]
In light of recent events protesting to end the continued brutality and racism of police, the cocktail hour has been cancelled.
The New York Peace Corps Association supports the necessary changes for which our fellow New Yorkers and RPCVs are bravely demonstrating. P
rocessing and honoring all of our thoughts & emotions about what we have seen over the past weeks, and holding space and long-overdue conversation for those thoughts & emotions matters. Meeting the moment we are in with passion and conviction matters. So we are going to take that time, create that space, and move forward accordingly. Please stay tuned for more resources and events to come.
In solidarity with and support of the BLM Movement, your NYCPCA Board.
