Halfway There: A Covid-19 Evacuation Story

Zambia Volunteer and New Yorker Emily Goff was evacuated almost a year into her Peace Corps service in Zambia when the new coronavirus hit. She wrote about her unexpected evacuation from her first day of quarantine in an Airbnb.

“Despite all that is happening in the world right now, Peace Corps has properly prepared me for boredom & isolation- though this time I have electricity, wifi and cable. Now, I am taking the time to process, as the past few days have been such a whirlwind and I have had no time to stop & think. I am looking forward to the months ahead, and excited to see what will come.”
