We are pleased to partner with the 14th Street Y to present this year’s art show “Peace Corps Creates…Art By Returned Volunteers.” The show will be on display in the Y’s lobby gallery from March 7th to April 11th.
Each artist spent at least two years overseas in service to their country as Peace Corps Volunteers. Whether they worked in education, community development or public health – Peace Corps service is a life-changer and a deeply formative experience. We invite you to meet one of our artists from this year’s show below.
Rachelle Shea on her work included in the show: After a winter camping trip in Minnesota, I decided to recreate the serenity of the sunrise over the snow. It amazed me how blue the snow looked in the early hours. I was obsessed with the subtlety of the clouds and silhouettes of the trees in the distance. I don’t normally paint landscapes, but this scene was something I had to capture.
